Roma-Fonseca: I Want to Make Something Special and Different Here

The new coach of the Giallorossi arrived in the Italian capital today. Fonseca is ready for a big challenge after having won multiple trophies at Shakhtar Donetsk.

Today is the day of the Portuguese coach. Paulo Fonseca landed in the eternal city this morning and started his new professional adventure. The fans of the Lupi are ready to support him albeit most of them were hoping for a resounding name on the bench.

The former leader of Shakhtar Donetsk is an expert man though. He has won national trophies in Ukraine and led his side to good performances on the international stage. Now is the moment to relaunch the ambitions of the club of Trigoria.

“I want to make something special and different here. When Roma called me I was very happy. To coach Roma is an extraordinary thing,” said Fonseca to the official AS Roma TV channel. “I perceived the support of the president. He seemed very interested in my ideas. There’s a great atmosphere here.”

The new coach of the Giallorossi is focused on his new role and wants to know everything about Trigoria and his new players. “I feel that this is a different challenge. Italian football is different from that in Ukraine but I am ready to work and transmit my ideas taking into consideration my experience. I am very motivated,” said Paulo Fonseca.

“I want courageous players. We can build a great team. I want to say to our fans that we want to build something special, something that will make them proud of this team, match after match. We need their support. I think that all together we can build something big and play great football,” concluded the Portuguese coach.
