Major Renovation Works, Roma Targets Bartra and Mancini

Kostas Manolas should be leaving the eternal city after many years and the Lupi would be ready to make an extra effort to renew the defensive line. Bartra and Mancini could join Fonseca’s group.

Roma needs a proper defensive shield to play Fonseca‘s offensive football. When he landed in the Italian capital, the Portuguese coach had said: “I want to make something special and different here. I want courageous players. We can build a great team. I want to say to our fans that we want to build something special, something that will make them proud of this team, match after match.”

Kostantinos Manolas seems to be ready to join Carlo Ancelotti at Napoli and the new sporting director of the Giallorossi must find a perfect replacement for the Greek defender. Gianluca Petrachi is likely working on different tables at this time. He needs to reshape a team that will lose many pieces this summer.

According to Gianlucadimarzio.com, the Giallorossi had a meeting with Marc Bartra‘s agents. Reportedly, the first contact between them was positive. The former Barcelona and Borussia Dortmund could be a good addition to Fonseca’s roster. New meetings will be needed to find an agreement or simply to assess the feasibility of this negotiation.

As reported by the Spanish outlet Marca, Real Betis is not willing to sell the player though. The 28-year-old defender from Sant Jaume dels Domenys would have a €60 million buyout clause included in his contract. Certainly, Roma is not going to pay that much to bring him close to the Colosseum but Petrachi will work hard to lower Bartra’s price-tag.

Dreaming of a New Italian Roma, Mancini to Replace Manolas

Gianluca Mancini, instead, has been chased by the Giallorossi for a long time. Reportedly, his price-tag is €25 million but Roma could try to change the cards on the table and ask Atalanta for a loan with an obligation to buy. Structuring the agreement in this way, the Lupi would have the necessary economic freedom to target other players and strengthen the offense.

Marc Bartra and Gianluca Mancini could be playing together next season. Roma would make a decisive leap in quality by purchasing these two defenders. The transfer market period is still very long and everything can happen but these two pieces could make up a wonderful puzzle.
