Fonseca and His Faithful Left-Back Ismaily (Stats)

Roma seems to be ready to welcome the Portuguese coach in the eternal city soon. Fonseca could bring to the Italian capital his favorite Brazilan defender Ismaily.

This is not official but Paulo Fonseca should be the next Roma coach. After a very long period, the Giallorossi have identified and almost signed a contract with the Portuguese coach. Reportedly, Shakhtar Donetsk should receive a €2 million fee to let him go and finalize a win/win/win deal.

But every coach brings his most precious jewels with him. An exciting new adventure in Italy would have convinced him to recommend the acquisition of his best left-back. Reportedly, the Portuguese man wants Ismaily Goncalves dos Santos in Rome.

The Brazilian defender has strength and a refined touch. His propulsive thrust on the flank makes the difference and it is of vital importance for Fonseca’s tactical plan. With Kolarov on his way out of Roma, Ismaily could be the right piece on that side of the pitch.

The 29-year-old from Ivinhema (Brazil) can be considered Fonseca’s faithful left-back. In the last three seasons, Ismaily made 120 appearances at Shakhtar Donetsk scoring 8 goals and 29 assists. Extremely relevant numbers for a defender who loves to push forward.

Luca Pellegrini‘s loan at Cagliari is over. The Italian youngster could be the second left-back of the Lupi next season. A great couple of defenders on that side could be perfect for the Portuguese coach. Florenzi and Karsdorp, instead, should be confirmed on the right flank. The new Roma captain and the Dutch player could be a great addition for the offensive plays Fonseca will teach his group.
