The Italian coach plays his card unveiling his real intentions for the future. Ranieri could be happy still coaching Roma.
Some have interpreted his words as the final greeting of a leader who is about to leave his group. Two more Serie A matches before the end of the 2018-19 campaign, and right after Roma-Juventus, Ranieri clarified his position.
“My goal is to be a coach, to be alive, to decide with my head, to take criticism and insults. I am like that, I want to go my own way,” had said the Roma coach to at Stadio Olimpico yesterday.
Claudio Ranieri is a man who works on the field and who has no intention of changing jobs just to stay in his beloved club.
With the determination that distinguishes him and with the love for the Lupi, the Italian coach has not anticipated his imminent future but he simply played his cards and left the executives with the final decision.
It seems to be clear that he would remain in Rome if he had the full confidence of Pallotta and the leading role of the team. “The club knows better than me what to do and they [the executives] will be waiting to know where we will be at the end of the championship,” had said Ranieri to the press.
The Roman coach is waiting to know his future albeit he decided to put little pressure on the club.
