The youngster spoke to the press after the Italy-Finland match. Zaniolo is happy for his debut with the national team and works for Roma to get to the Champions League.
This is a special period for Nicolò Zaniolo. Last summer, he moved to the Italian capital from Inter in the deal that brought Radja Nainggolan to Milan. Roma made a great choice, the youngster is a top talent ready to blossom.
But his life gave him another big surprise last night when Roberto Mancini decided to play him against Finland in a match valid for the qualification to Euro 2020.
“My debut has been a great emotion for me. This is another dream I realized this year,” said Zaniolo to Rai Sport right after the match. “But I’m well aware that I have to remain humble.”
The Roma talent spoke about Di Francesco and the legendary captain of the giallorossi Francesco Totti.
“I owe so much to Di Francesco because together with Mancini he trusted me. He explained to me how to behave off the field. I was sorry he went away because I think he’s very good. But now there’s Ranieri and I have to give my best for him. He is experienced, he knows Roma, and he also won during his career.”
“On October 10, 1998, Francesco Totti had debuted with the national team here in Udine, just like me. He gives me advice on how to train, play, and behave. He is a champion even off the field. He tells me that it’s really fast to get to the top and very hard to remain up there,” continued Zaniolo.
