Former Roma and Italian national team striker Luca Toni spoke about the legendary player of the giallorossi Totti and the quality of the Czech talent Patrik Schick.
His adventure in the Italian capital has been positive. In the season 2009/10, Luca Toni made 17 appearances with the giallorossi scoring 5 goals and 1 assist. Then he moved to Verona and closed his career there with a remarkable score (51 goals and 14 assists in 100 matches).
The former Roma striker spoke to soccermagazine.it about Francesco Totti and Patrik Schick. “I believe Totti started this career to become an important executive for Roma, the club in which he grew up and made history. I think he made the right choice. That was the right moment to start a new life,” said Toni. “It would be nice if the champions played up to 50 years, but unfortunately the physique does not hold.”
Toni also spoke about Schick‘s role. The Czech striker is still struggling at Roma even if everybody believes in his quality.
“I don’t see him play as a striker. I think his right role has not been discovered yet. Although I do not know him, those close to Roma told me he has great quality. I would say he is more a second striker. If you do not score at least 20 goals you cannot be considered a striker for a top team. Perhaps he will be more angry in the future and he could get that role,” concluded the former Italy international Luca Toni.
