Roma-Bologna 2-1: Lights and Many Shadows at the Olimpico (Stats)

Roma collect three vital points for the Champions League race. Di Francesco’s side did not express refined plays but fought like hungry warriors. Bologna leave the Olimpico with an unfortunate defeat.

The giallorossi collected a good streak of results in the last period (if we do not take into consideration the horrible defeat against Fiorentina) but their performance today was deficient, to say the least. Bologna played a very tactical match closing the gaps between the lines and pressing the ball ferociously.

The Lupi, instead, seemed to be a little tired and deconcentrated after the Champions League clash against Porto played last week. Di Francesco‘s men have changed their attitude and tactical approach during the second half. The Italian coach transformed his 4-3-3 in a compact 4-2-3-1. De Rossi entered the field to shield the backline while Zaniolo shifted behind Dzeko to manage possession.

Roma collected three points thanks to the greater absolute value of their players. El Shaarawy has changed the pace of the game and got a penalty thanks to one of his offensive raids. Two defenders scored today confirming that offensively Roma are more proficient with their defensive players (Kolarov and Fazio).
