Former Inter and Manchester United coach Mourinho believes Roma’s defensive problems could compromise their Champions League path.
José Mourinho firmly believes the Italian football is passing through a tough moment. Juventus are the best side and they will be able to rule in Italy still for some time.
“In Italy, there’s no longer the ambition to win or to reduce the gap with Juventus. Roma have started the Champions League well but then they faced issues in the championship and we all know what happened in Coppa Italia,” said Mourinho to Teleradiostereo.
The experienced Portuguese coach also spoke about the UCL clash Roma-Porto. “Porto’s goal has been very important. They are a very tactical side thanks to Conceicao‘s experience in Italy. It’s not easy to defeat them.”
“They are very strong at home. Their stadium is very nice and with a great atmosphere. Roma, instead, are defensively not solid. It will be difficult for them to play for the 0-0. The match will be tough and it would be important for them to score a goal.”
Mourinho also remembers his past at Inter and the exciting challenge against Roma. “Yes, it’s true [the challenge between Roma and Inter was a great duel]. In a few years, Roma, Milan, and Inter will get to the top and the league will be much more exciting.”
