Roma Join Real Madrid in Race for Boca Juniors’ Barrios

The giallorossi are looking to acquire a new central midfielder. Roma Sporting Director Monchi and his scouting network are monitoring Boca Juniors’ Barrios.

This is the moment to think about a new Daniele De Rossi. The beloved captain of the Lupi is experiencing many physical issues this season. Although he is the undisputed leader of Di Francesco‘s side, the Italian coach cannot rely on him full-time and needs a quality alternative.

Monchi and his group of scouts around the world are now monitoring Boca Juniors‘ talented midfielder Wilmar Barrios. The 25-year-old from Cartagena de Indias could be a perfect profile for the club of the Italian capital. The Colombian is a very tough defensive midfielder who has recently played the historical final match of the Copa Libertadores played against River Plate at Stadio Bernabeu on December 9, 2018.

Barrios debuted with the Colombian national team on September 7, 2016. Currently, he is a starter for the legendary Argentine side with which he made 59 appearances scoring 1 goal and 2 assists.

According to the portal Don Balòn, Wilmar Barrios is considered the ‘Colombian Kantè‘, comparing him to the Chelsea star. Top European clubs are chasing the player as well. Reportedly, Real Madrid are monitoring the situation but even Manchester City seem to be interested.
