Roma Join Race for Napoli and Chelsea Target Barella

The giallorossi need a talented midfielder able to replace Daniele De Rossi. Roma want Barella but they have to face many competitors.

If there’s a player who can replace the Roma captain Daniele De Rossi, the name out there is Nicolò Barella. The Cagliari midfielder is a prodigious talent who is already playing with the Italian national team trained by Roberto Mancini.

His spell at Cagliari seems to be over. Likely, next summer, the player will make a move towards a top European side. Reportedly, Napoli and Chelsea are interested in Barella and currently monitoring the performance of the midfielder.

But Roma are chasing the player as well. As reported by ANSA, Monchi would be willing to make a serious economic effort to finalize this deal with Cagliari. Apparently, the Spaniard could offer €40 million plus two players of the youth team, Celar and Riccardi.

Other midfielders could be joining the Italian giants at the end of the season. As previously reported, Roma are also in the race for Porto‘s Herrera. The Mexican player is a free-agent unless he signs a new contract with the legendary Portuguese club.
