The giallorossi had formally requested the Italian defender to Atalanta, but the club of Bergamo wants him to stay until June.
The love story between Gianluca Mancini and Roma should be only postponed. The giallorossi are almost in agreement with Atalanta for the acquisition of the talented center-back.
But Gasperini doesn’t want to lose an important piece of his backline in January. The Italian coach is dreaming of the Champions League and Mancini represents a point of reference for his group.
According to Giovanni Sartori, Atalanta’s sporting director, Mancini will not leave Bergamo until the end of the 2018-19 campaign. “We are not willing to lose such an important player in the middle of the season,” said Sartori to the Italian outlet ForzaRoma.info. “Any situation related to Mancini is postponed to the end of the season.”
The 23-year-old Italian defender will be a new Roma player next season but not now. Monchi has been working on this deal for a long time.
