Two clubs are leading the race for Barrios’ acquisition. Roma and Zenit are seriously interested in the midfielder but their offers are very different.
Wilmar Barrios should leave Boca Juniors soon but nobody knows the name of his next club. As reported a few days ago, Roma are chasing the player. The giallorossi need a rocky playmaker, a man with temperament and competitive nastiness. Although Monchi is still in contact with the Argentine side, there’s another club interested in Barrios as well.
According to Nicolò Schira, a journalist of the Italian newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport, Zenit are in contact with Barrios’ agents. Reportedly, the Russian powerhouse made a €13 million (plus bonuses) bid in order to snatch the player from Boca Juniors.
The giallorossi, instead, are still anchored to their intention of purchasing the player on loan in order to postpone the final payment to the next summer. The financial deadline (June 30th) is very important for Roma, the club of Trigoria would be willing to pay slightly more but only if the transactions are not posted in the current financial statement.
Wilmar Barrios seems to be on his way out of Boca Juniors but Roma and Zenit are competing at this time.
