Roma legend Francesco Totti received another award today in Milan. The awards never end for the number 10 of the eternal city that spoke at the Gran Galà del Calcio.
Although he retired in 2017, Francesco Totti is still receiving gratitude and affection from the whole football world. What he did on the field was unforgettable. He wrote indelible pages that composed a special and unrepeatable symphony.
Just a few days ago, the legend of the Italian capital entered in the Roma Hall of Fame. Moments of passion and tears of joy have permeated the fans at the Stadio Olimpico ahead of the Champions League clash Roma-Real Madrid. But his greatness has never stopped even off the field.
Today, Totti received a career award on the Megawatt stage in Milan. The former captain of the giallorossi entertained the audience together with another legend of Italian football, Andrea Pirlo.
“I would have liked to play with Andrea. He was different from all the other players,” said Francesco Totti.
Rome’s favorite son also returned on his agonized retirement. “Let’s say that I was convinced to retire (jocking). But the time to stop had arrived. We gave so much to this football.”
Totti was the last flag of a football made of financial statements and dizzying wages and he likes to point out that his love for Roma could never end. “Let’s say that of the flag now there is only the staff left. Football has changed.”
