Former Roma and Liverpool FC fullback Riise presented his biography ‘Running Man’ and spoke about the passion of the Roma fans.
His adventure in the Italian capital has been unforgettable. A Norwegian viking who left his ‘cold’ heart in the passionate eternal city.
John Arne Riise has confirmed that something special goes on in Rome. A deep passionate bond between the club and its fans. A sort of positive obsession that changes the way of seeing football.
“It is not easy to conquer the heart of Roma fans, obviously it is easier if like Totti and De Rossi you are from Rome,” said the former fullback of the giallorossi. “But every time, when we were in the locker rooms, we could hear the fans singing the anthem, it was unique. Once on the field, the thunder began. Choirs, flags and banners, there are few places where the fans are more intense.”
“There’s a difference between Roma and Liverpool. There [in Rome] the fans are positively obsessed with their team. The atmosphere of the Derby in Rome is special,” the Norwegian said as reported by the Italian outlet Gianlucadimarzio.com.
“I am proud of having worn the Roma shirt and played alongside Totti. He had the ability to control the game. Gerrard has been the strongest and most complete player I’ve played with, but Totti was the most iconic and technical,” said Riise.
