Roma star Edin Dzeko has been nominated the best Bosnian athlete of the year. He spoke about his adventure in Italy.
Edin Dzeko’s spell in the Italian capital may be controversial but certainly positive. After a terrible start, his performance improved over the years.
Probably, his past season will be unrepeatable. Dzeko dragged his teammates to the Champions League semifinals against Liverpool FC scoring several goals in the most prestigious European competition.
“If they told me that we would play the Champions League semifinals, I would have laughed,” honestly admitted the striker in a recent interview with the Bosnian portal Nezavisne. “However, slowly and with confidence we believed in our possibilities. It was one of the best seasons in the Roma history and my best in the Champions League. In the end I was sad, though, because we could have played the final if there were no mistakes against us.”
Dzeko was also asked about yesterday’s UCL draw. Roma will face Porto in February. “We will try to repeat something similar, even if I think that last season can not be repeated.”
He and his family love Rome. Dzeko is very happy to play for the giallorossi even if the club is passing through a very tough moment. “Scoring goals is my job. I am happy that in such a short time I have written my name in the history of a club like Roma. They had great strikers in the past. But this is just an incentive to give even more in the future. The expectations of the fans are great, but mine are huge.”
