Former Barcelona and Roma striker Bojan Krkic retraced moments of his career blaming the expectations of the Roma fans.
When he landed in the eternal city, the Roma fans welcomed him as a top star. But in that moment, Bojan could not do what everyone asked him to do.
Young players go through a necessary growth process. Then the road ahead of them splits in two directions, one positive and one negative. In a recent interview with BBC, Bojan explained why he took the wrong path.
“I was penalized by the expectations that everyone had for me. I left Barcelona to try something different but in Italy I was called the ‘new Messi’. This did not help my growth but penalized me,” said Bojan Krkic to BBC.
“Lionel [Messi] was scoring three goals per match. If I played well it was still not enough. They wanted me to be always the best, the star of the match.”
“I still remember when we lost an away match and the fans were waiting for us in front of our bus. They told us that it was ok to have lost that match but we had to win the derby the week after.”
“There are some players who suffer this pressure, others not. I can only say that all this does not exist in the Premier League and I can enjoy playing football“.
