The Portuguese coach was at the Stadio Artemio Franchi on Saturday. Paulo Sousa would be happy to replace Di Francesco.
Former Fiorentina coach Paulo Sousa would be willing to land in the Italian capital if the giallorossi called him.
Roma are still experiencing upsetting ups and downs and Eusebio Di Francesco doesn’t seem to understand the issues that are affecting his team. Although his group played a good match in Florence, the Lupi have a huge gap from those teams at the top of the Serie A standings.
The Italian satellite channel Sky Sport Italia interviewed Paulo Sousa in reference to the recent rumors about his possible new adventure in the eternal city.
“I would like to train the giallorossi. I’ve never hidden that,” said the former Juventus player and Fiorentina coach. “After my adventure in Florence my expectations were very high. I wanted a team able to challenge for the Scudetto and to get to the end of the Champions League. This is my target and Roma could be a perfect fit for me.”
Although Di Francesco is under fire for the poor performances of his group, the Italian coach is still supported by the Roma executives. Paulo Sousa also admitted that there were no contacts between him and the directors of the Lupi.
“I’ve never been contacted [by Roma]. But I like Italy. It’s a country and a football that suits me,” concluded Paulo Sousa.
