Schick’s Former Coach Giampaolo Defends the Czech Striker

Patrik Schick - AS Roma

Patrick Schick’s performance at Roma is very disappointing but there’s still somebody who believes in him. Giampaolo explains his qualities.

Patrick Schick is a rare case of a potential top star unable to react to the pressures of the environment. Since his arrival in the eternal city, the Czech striker is unrecognizable.

He played 36 matches with the giallorossi and scored only 4 goals with no assists. This is not enough for a talent paid almost €42 million on August 29, 2017.

Schick needs more space to play as he wants. But his current physical condition seems to be a problem as well.

His former coach, Giampaolo, tried to defend the Czech player in a recent interview with Sky Sport Italia.

Roma made an investment because Schick is a strong player,” said Giampaolo. “But the pressures of the environment can make the difference.

In my opinion, he is a great player with a great quality. He did marvelous things at Sampdoria where he was playing as a second striker.

Schick is struggling in Rome because he plays on the flank and he must learn how to play as a first striker. But the player has undoubted qualities,” confirmed Giampaolo to Sky Sport Italia.
