Roma-Real Madrid 0-2: Mental Disaster at the Stadio Olimpico (Stats)

The giallorossi missed a couple of great opportunities during the first half and then collapsed in the second part of the game. Roma lose another home match but they got the qualification to the next stage of the Champions League.

Another mental match weirdly lost by Di Francesco‘s side. After having played fizzy 45 minutes, Roma got back from the halftime break without the right mental approach. Real Madrid broke the deadlock with Bale who stubbed Olsen after Fazio‘s huge mistake.

But the Lupi didn’t have the necessary character to react and the Blancos dominated the second half without mercy. Roma lost the balance on the filed exposing themselves to multiple counterattacks. Solari‘s side doubled the lead with Lucas with the Roma backline completely motionless.

Real Madrid comfortably managed the possession throughout the match (40% vs 60%). Although Di Francesco’s men shot on goal 15 times (vs 10), they didn’t have the ability to create remarkable chances in the second part of the game (3 big chances created and missed). 10 shots from inside the box have not been enough for Under & Co. to bring the match on their side.

Roma pass to the next round of the Champions League thanks to the defeat CSKA Moscow suffered against Viktoria Plzen.
