Roma Sporting Director Monchi was in London to meet Baldini and to attend the Transfer Room Summit.
When Monchi flew to London, several Italian outlets reported on his possible meeting with Franco Baldini. The counselor of Mr. Pallotta lives there and he could still be involved in the club’s key decisions.
But the Sporting Director of the giallorossi was also there to attend an important event, the Transfer Room Summit, a ‘meeting‘ only dedicated to football executives.
As reported by Gianlucadimarzio.com, the Spaniard focused on the relationship between executives and his strategies on the market.
“A Sporting Director must be practical because you can’t waste time. It’s necessary to be reachable and timely communicate with those working in the scouting field,” said Monchi.
“This is a teamwork and you must be aware of that if you want to reach the top. If a team knows that I like a keeper valued between €7-10 million, they are going to ask me €15m. That’s why it’s important to have plan B. It’s necessary to have a long list of alternative players,” continued the Roma executive.
“You can reduce costs if less intermediaries are involved. I’m not a negotiator. But I want to have many options. Also, it’s important that both parties are satisfied [with the deal]. You cannot take advantage of the counterpart. You will benefit from it over time,” concluded the Roma man Monchi.
