The sporting director of the Lupi, Monchi, spoke to the press right after Fiorentina-Roma to make it clear that they are tired of being penalized.
Fiorentina-Roma is now over and albeit the Lupi scored the equalizer right at the end of the match, the group feels penalized by some refereeing decisions. The penalty given to Fiorentina for an alleged foul of Robin Olsen on Simeone is simply unreal.
The sporting director of the giallorossi, Monchi, took advantage of the post-match interviews to complain about the referees’ work.
“We would have deserved much more today. But a ‘play’ has changed the outcome of the match. I have never talked about the referee for the past 18 months. He is not responsible for anything, because it is difficult from the field. But even last year we had had the opportunity to be favored by the VAR,” said Monchi to Sky Sport Italia.
“We are always silent. Against SPAL we suffered a dubious penalty and even in Naples, something has happened on Dzeko. There’s a man [Orsato] who has been the protagonist of a similar situation last year at home against Inter with a penalty on Perotti. I ask for justice,” continued the Spaniard. “The more I watch the episode the more I get angry. We can say that in this situation the VAR should have been checked because this is a serious mistake.”
