Roma fullback Aleksandar Kolarov is ready for tomorrow’s big clash against Real Madrid. The Champions League is something special but the Serbian doesn’t believe his teammates are saving energy for the international stage.
Everybody will be watching the super-clash Roma–Real Madrid tomorrow. The giallorossi will face the European champions in front of their fans. The Stadio Olimpico will be crowded even if Di Francesco‘s side is seriously disappointing its fans in Serie A.
The recent defeat against Udinese will be forgotten for 90 minutes. The Spanish powerhouse wants the three points after a bad defeat in the last domestic game played in La Liga. Although Solari‘s men are motivated, Roma want to collect the necessary point/s to get to the next stage of this international competition.
“My desire to win has never been lacking, but I do not even think it’s lacking in my teammates,” said Kolarov in today’s press conference ahead of the Champions League match. “It can happen that you lose one, two, or even three matches. But nobody plays to lose. Udinese have shot on goal once and they scored a goal. Then, they had other opportunities when we were pushing ahead.”
“We are aware that our moment is not optimal. But I do not feel the difficulty. I like these matches and these moments where everything doesn’t go as I wanted. In the end, only men will get out of this situation, not the players. And I firmly believe that we have real men,” said Kolarov.
“This is football and it goes in this way, sometimes. Although it shouldn’t happen, sometimes it happens. But the beauty of this sport is that tomorrow we will face Real Madrid and then Inter, Cagliari…And we have to face these matches as men, not as players.”
