Ajax’s Overmars Rejects Roma Interest in de Ligt

The sporting director of the Dutch side has ruled out an imminent departure of de Ligt. Ajax do not sell players in January.

Although we are still at the begging of November, transfer market rumors are always out there. Reportedly, several top European sides are chasing Matthijs de Ligt, but his current club is not willing to accept any kind of offer at this time.

Ajax‘s sporting director and former glory of the Dutch national team Marc Overmars has been interviewed by Fox Sports.

“Everyone knows what we want to do. We are not going to trade anybody in the winter period. There are simply no possibilities regardless of the offers we could receive,” said Overmars.

Reportedly, Roma and Barcelona are chasing the player. Although de Ligt’s price tag seems to be very high for the giallorossi (40 million), Monchi is reportedly monitoring the situation.

Marc Overmars has denied rumors of a possible departure of the defender in January, but the transfer market surprises us sometimes and the god of money often prevails over the tactical and sporting reason.

Roma and Barcelona will, therefore, face each other once more. The relationship between the two football powerhouses is still good albeit the 2017-18 Champions League quarterfinals and Malcom‘s negotiation could have compromised this atmosphere of serenity.
