No De Rossi No Soul

Daniele De Rossi - AS Roma

Roma’s performance at the Stadio San Paolo highlights the importance of their captain, De Rossi.

There’s a famous banner at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome to celebrate the legendary number 10 of the giallorossi. On that banner is written: “No Totti No Party”.

When Francesco Totti was at the helm of his beloved club, his teammates were feeling more confident and ready to battle. Nowadays, the number 10 is a director of the Italian giants, but another senator is ruling in the eternal city, Daniele De Rossi.

There’s no doubt that the Lupi play better when their captain is on the field. In the last Serie A away clash against Napoli, Roma ‘expectedly‘ collapsed in front of the Partenopei. That happened right after De Rossi picked up a knee injury.

The Italian legend played 43 minutes and albeit Napoli was already leading the operations, Roma were still able to counterattack and shield the backline properly counting on his tactical wisdom. When Bryan Cristante replaced him, instead, the team simply disappeared from the field.

Daniele De Rossi made 30 accurate passes (85.7%), 2 blocked shots, 3 interceptions, and 1 duel won. Although he was returning from an injury, his presence at the Stadio San Paolo was vital for Di Francesco’s group.

Today’s report is stating that the knee of the former Italy international is inflamed. Who knows how long he will be out for. Di Francesco doesn’t have a playmaker able to make a difference at this time. Probably, the sporting director of the Lupi, Monchi,  will try to find a solution in the January transfer window.
