Zdenek Zeman knows what a striker need to do in an offensive tactical approach and Patrick Schick is not good for the Lupi.
When the coach of Sampdoria Giampaolo once said that the Czech striker would have experienced tough moments in Rome most of the fans and football experts didn’t believe him. Nowadays, the former Roma coach Zdenek Zeman is saying the same things.
The 4-3-3 guru firmly believes that Schick is a good player but only if he plays as a striker. The main issue, though, is that Roma have a world-class player in that position, Edin Dzeko.
“I do not believe Roma are the right club for him. I think Di Francesco didn’t even want him,” said Zeman to sport.cz.
“Di Francesco doesn’t know what to do with him [Schick]. Both players are strikers and albeit Roma plays with three forwards, he cannot find space because Dzeko is the starter. “
When Patrick Schick was at Sampdoria, Giampaolo had found the right position for the Czech international.
“He was a good player there. But he was playing in a central position,” confirmed the former Roma coach.
The performances of the talented Schick have been disappointing. Although he made a difference in the summer retreat playing well and scoring several goals, the Czech often sat on the bench on this beginning of 2018-19 campaign.
Will Di Francesco find the right position for him? Time will tell us.
