Di Francesco Preaches Balance and Continuity Ahead of UCL Clash

Eusebio Di Francesco - AS Roma

The Derby della Capitale is now over and Roma faces a tough Champions League match at Stadio Olimpico.

The fans are now happy but Roma must go ahead on the right path after having collected six points in the last two Serie A matches. The 3-1 victory against Lazio on Saturday made the Roma environment excited again but the Lupi need three points on the European stage after their bloody defeat in Madrid.

In today’s press conference ahead of RomaViktoria Plzen the coach of the giallorossi focused on the determination of his men to change direction and impress everyone in the 2018-19 Champions League.

The only thing I said to my players is that we need the right balance to work well and go ahead doing a good job,” said Eusebio Di Francesco.

“We must have the right behaviors and a proper way to stay on the field working as a team. I believe this is the most important concept to focus on in order to restart on the right path.”

The Italian coach firmly believes his team can play 4-2-3-1 and 4-3-3. Although Pastore should be the best man to play as trequartista behind the striker, Di Francesco pointed out that many other players have the right qualities to cover that position.

“Even Zaniolo and Coric can play there. Obviously, Pastore is always looking for a way to put his teammates in front of the net. He loves to play between the lines to find the right space for his plays. But Coric can do the same. He has great qualities. He can surprise you with a great play too.”

“The other players, instead, [Pellegrini and Cristante] have more endurance in both phases and are more prone to the offensive raids,” clarified EDF. “It depends on many different things. All the players on the field have to move properly at the same time.”
