Di Francesco: “Now I Will Change as Little as Possible”

Di Francesco Eusebio - AS Roma head coach

The Italian coach seemed relieved after the Champions League victory against Viktoria Plzen. Di Francesco is not willing to change a tactical approach that perfectly fits with the quality of his players.

Roma bit their prey without mercy in front of thousands of cheerful fans at Stadio Olimpico. The second Champions League match of the 2018-19 edition has been a triumph. The Lupi defeated Viktoria Plzen 5-0 and Edin Dzeko scored a marvelous hattrick.

Eusebio Di Francesco may have found the best tactical approach to highlight the qualities of his players. The 4-2-3-1 provide a necessary shield in front of the backline and support to the striker. Two fast wingers create dangerous opportunities and the necessary assistance in the midfield.

In the post-match interviews, Di Francesco expressed his satisfaction for today’s win on the European stage.

“We had that necessary continuity. I really liked my team today. The three midfielders are now moving properly. We made people happy and the many goals are important for the group [in reference to the GROUP G].”

“It is not easy to make experiments in Rome. I didn’t want to implement a radical change to the 4-3-3 but I needed to modify something. Now, I will change as little as possible. I’m happy with what they are putting on the field and their desire to play together,” continued EDF.

In reference to Pellegrini‘s great performance, the Italian coach is very happy for the midfielder but “It’s too early to say if he is better than Nainggolan. He’s playing the role at best. He can hurt the opponents behind their midfield line. I’m very happy for him, he deserves it,” said Eusebio Di Francesco to the Italian satellite channel Sky Sport Italia.
