The captain of the giallorossi spoke about the Roma legend Francesco Totti during the presentation of his book “Un Capitano”. Their friendship is solid and consolidated over the years.

They have played together for many years. They have the same passion for their beloved club. Daniele De Rossi inherited the captain’s armband from Francesco Totti when the legend of Rome closed his adventure as a player.

In today’s presentation of Totti’s autobiography, De Rossi went up on stage to tell stories of his life with the former captain of the giallorossi. They spent years together fighting for the same objectives. They have played with great champions and won a few trophies. De Rossi knows Francesco Totti better than all of us.

“There were so many fascinating players when I arrived [in the first team of Roma]. Batistuta was there. I looked at him in a particular way, then he became a teammate and a friend. At the beginning it was a dream, I was close to one who did what I wanted to do,” said De Rossi.

Francesco Totti left the captain armband to the midfielder and honestly admitted “he was my successor, we walked together for so many years.”

“It is a responsibility, I do not try to be what he is for all of us Romanisti. It would be impossible. I must be myself honoring what he has done,” replied De Rossi on the stage with the former Roma captain. “It was a very heavy inheritance. Every game the fans shout ‘a captain, there’s only one captain’, but I turn my face and it’s not for me. [laughing]”
