Serie A 2018-19: Roma Lose Kilometers This Season (Stats)

The Lega Serie A stats report unveils that the giallorossi have sold their best runner, Kevin Strootman. Which player will be able to replace the Dutch midfielder?

When a team plays with a very demanding tactical approach its players must cover a large portion of the pitch. Eusebio Di Francesco‘s 4-3-3 or the latest version of his 4-2-3-1 implemented against AC Milan on Friday needs players with endurance, men able to perform the two phases (defensive and offensive) with a high degree of efficiency.

The Lega Serie A official website released a very interesting report in reference to the kilometers ‘traveled’ by the Serie A players in the first three games of the 2018-19 season. It was not surprising to see that Kevin Strootman, the Dutch international that Monchi recently sold to Marseille, was Roma‘s best runner having covered an average of 11,569 Km in the 99 minutes played with the Lupi.

The most alarming data for the giallorossi is that the second Roma player in this ranking is the 35-year-old Daniele De Rossi. The captain sits in the 45th position having run 10,944 Km in the 289 minutes played in the current Serie A season. The third giallorosso in this ranking is the Serbia international Aleksandar Kolarov (10,672 Km | 289 minutes).

Inter‘s Marcelo Brozovic leads the ranking (12,289 Km | 277′) followed by Roberto Gagliardini (12,266 Km | 95′) and Frosinone‘s Lorenzo Crisetig (12,138 Km | 94′).
