The eternal hero of the eternal city Francesco Totti has been interviewed by the Italian newspaper ‘Venerdi-La Repubblica’. The number 10 knows the dynamics of football.

Although the legendary Roma striker Francesco Totti tried to motivate and galvanize Di Francesco’s boys ahead of the Champions League clash against Real Madrid, Roma suffered a bad defeat at the Stadio Bernabeu on Wednesday.

But when the former captain of the Lupi talks about his life unveiling secrets and anecdotes of his 25 years with the club of Trigoria, the world stops and listens in religious silence. There are many fun memories in his private and professional life. Francesco Totti is now a director for his beloved club albeit his learning process is still ongoing.

When Antonio Cassano joined the giallorossi, Totti and the talent from Bari Vecchia (the old and poor section of the city) have amazed the crowds. They were living symbiotically on and off the field.

“When I went out to dinner, sometimes we were even 7-8 people. Although he was sitting at another table, he was paying for everybody, even for people he did not know,” said Totti. “After a while, I had to tell him it was not good to do that.”

In reference to the relationship between players and the importance of creating a solid group to achieve results, the Roma director stated: “I was like them, I know them well. I know the secret language made of looks and half words.”

“I try to make myself useful. Now, in the locker room, English is almost the only language. If you don’t know that, you can’t understand anything. The players are always playing with their phones. They stay isolated in their rooms to send messages without creating a solid group,” stated the former number 10 to ‘Venerdi-La Repubblica’.
