The Blancos lost the Portuguese prodigy last summer but Roma coach Di Francesco believes they improved in the common effort.
The Champions League is ready to begin for Real Madrid and Roma as well. The match is scheduled for Wednesday, September 19th at the Bernabeu stadium.
Both sides are not passing through a great moment from a physical and mental point of view. Last summer, Real Madrid changed their coach and sold Cristiano Ronaldo to Juventus for €117 million. On the other side, the sporting director of the giallorossi, Monchi, dismantled and rebuilt the team trying to rejuvenate the roster.
Although one of the two best players in the world moved away from Madrid, Eusebio Di Francesco believes that Real Madrid have improved in the way they put pressure on the opponents.
“They play more as a united team since Ronaldo’s departure,” said the Italian coach. “They have not lost their qualities passing from 4-3-3 to 4-2-3-1.”
Di Francesco was not willing to unveil his tactical approach for tomorrow. “I cannot say how we are going to face them. But we must have the ability to improve. I saw more quality and continuity with Chievo. But we missed the defensive phase. We have to face this match defending a lot better.”
The Roma coach is really impressed by the strength of the Blancos and praised Asensio because “he is the future. Even if he is not Ronaldo, he works for his teammates very well.”
