Monchi Worried but not Pessimistic After UCL Debacle

Monchi | AS Roma

Real Madrid crushes Roma in the first Champions League match of the 2018-19 campaign. The Blancos scores three goals leaving the Lupi with no chance to reply.

Practically no one expected surprises at the Stadio Bernabeu today. Real Madrid easily defeated Roma in front of their supporters collecting the first three points in the GROUP G.

Isco‘s free-kick stubbed Di Francesco‘s side, a group incapable to react in this period. The Italian coach is facing serious tactical issues. His 4-3-3 and 4-2-3-1 are not efficient anymore. His players are demotivated and, at times, depressed. Nobody knows if EDF will be able to understand the best remedy for his men but he will not have many other possibilities to fail.

Roma sporting director Monchi was intercepted by the official channel of the club Roma TV right after the match and stated:

“We experienced a similar situation last year in December, the difference is that now it’s happening before. I am confident that Di Francesco will find the right way,” said Monchi.

In reference to the pressure he could feel in this tough period, the Spaniard clarified: “I worked hard to get here and I’m not afraid of anything. When things get harder, I’m stronger. I want to work today more than yesterday.”

“I am convinced we will find the right path. If you have to find somebody to blame, I am here in front of you. Look no further, look for me because I am responsible. But I am convinced we will find the way to start again and move on altogether with the players and the technical staff. Last year we suffered and then we did beautiful things. We will make our supporters happy.”
