Roma Want to do Extraordinary Things

Di Francesco | AS Roma

The Italian coach held a press conference ahead of the first Champions League match of the 2018-19 campaign.

Roma on the road to Madrid tomorrow to face the World-Champions at the Bernabeu stadium. The Blancos are a super-team but Di Francesco’s side wants to replicate the amazing gestures made last season on the international stage.

In today’s press conference EDF clearly pushed his guys to do something better to face one of the best teams in the world.

“We need balance, head, and anger to face Real Madrid properly,” said the Roma coach. “We have to give our best in this kind of matches as we did last season.”

The home draw against Chievo Verona on Sunday confirmed that the backline of the Lupi is passing through a very tough moment.

“I put the team ahead of the leaders or individuals. We have to do better altogether. However, our defensive phase must improve.”

Eusebio Di Francesco was also asked to assess if Roma are a better team this season. But the Italian coach firmly believes that his players must work altogether to improve and cope with the high expectations.

“We have to follow a path of growth. Expectations have risen, but we have to be the first to believe and drag everyone in this sense, starting with the performances. We have done something extraordinary and we aim at that. It is right to believe and try,” concluded EDF.
