De Rossi: “Roma Sell the Best Players but the Team Always Regenerates”

Daniele De Rossi - AS Roma

The captain of the giallorossi is ready for the Champions League clash that will take place tomorrow at the Stadio Bernabeu. Although Roma implement an extreme trading strategy, De Rossi believes the club always improve.

Finally, this is the moment of the Champions League. The most important and exciting international competition for clubs features a top-class match between Real Madrid and Roma. The clash will take place on Wednesday, September 19th in Madrid at 3:00 PM (EST).

In today’s press conference Eusebio Di Francesco and Daniele De Rossi highlighted the qualities of the side led by Julen Lopetegui. Real Madrid are one of the best teams in the world but the giallorossi have already impressed on the international stage. In the 2017-18 European campaign, Roma reached the Champions League semifinals after having demolished Barcelona at the Stadio Olimpico in an epic return match.

It’s not going to be easy to repeat previous performances but the Italian coach believes in his men and pushed them to rediscover that unity necessary to do great things. Daniele De Rossi is a legendary player for the Roma fans. In the press conference ahead of Real Madrid-Roma, the midfielder analyzed the current situation of his beloved club.

“It is not easy to compare the Roma seen against Barcelona, a team that was training together for 9 months, and this Roma, a group that is at the beginning of a new season,” said De Rossi. “The performances in a season have always reflected what has been done in the transfer market a few months before. This is how football works.”

The captain honestly admitted “since I’ve been here in Rome it has always been like that, not just with this ownership. Roma always sell the best players to purchase other players who, after a few years, would become as strong as those that were here before. Roma have always regenerated despite the physiological trading which is in the destiny of this club.”
