The former Roma sporting director believes in the qualities of the Dutch midfielder he brought to Italy a few years ago.
Walter Sabatini is still in love with the giallorossi. The former sporting director of the historic club of the Italian capital never denied his passion for Roma and his great memories having led the operation of such a top European club.
Although the transfer market in Italy is now closed, the Italian sides can still trade players out for a while. According to recent rumors, the French powerhouse Marseille is seriously interested in snatching Kevin Strootman from Roma.
Reportedly the club of Trigoria is not willing to sell at this time, but Di Francesco is leading an extra-large roster that should be trimmed to avoid behavioral issues. In a couple of press conferences, the Italian coach clearly stated that he won’t work with 30 players.
Diego Perotti and Kevin Strootman have received offers lately. Monchi could decide to sacrifice one or more players to make EDF happy.
Walter Sabatini was interviewed and asked about Strootman by the French outlet ‘laprovence.com’. The former Roma sporting director expressed his admiration for the Holland international.
“Kevin is very strong. He is a warrior and can make a difference everywhere. I really do not know if he will go to Marseille, but if it happens, I would be happy for Rudi [Garcia].”
