The sporting director of the Giallorossi is reshuffling the club with targeted players heavily cutting the average age of the roster.
Although Monchi joined the club of the Italian Capital last year, in summer 2017 he had no possibility to implement his trading strategies. The Spaniard has a large group of collaborators around the world, professionals who are proposing him talented players ready to make an impact in the tough European football.
In summer 2017, Monchi brought Pellegrini back to Roma and pursued Karsdorp from Feyenoord. Two talented and young players that could remain in the group for several years. The Italian midfielder is an already ‘experienced’ 21-year-old while the Dutch right-back is 23.
Monchi targeted and finalized the acquisition of several other youngsters to provide the team with fresh energies and technique.
He discovered Cengiz Under (20) in Turkey and completed a €42 million deal with Sampdoria to land Patrick Schick (22). The Turk impressed everybody last campaign while the Czech striker will be able to do better in the next season albeit his quality is indubitable.
Monchi’s trading strategy is being implemented in the current transfer window. In just a few weeks, the Spaniard pursued Ante Coric (21), Bryan Cristante (23), and Justin Kluivert (19).
The Croatian is considered a great talent in midfield. His past performances are positive and impressive. A player with vision and technique able to cover different roles. The former Atalanta man is a player ready to improve the efficiency of the Roma midfield. An offensive midfielder able to score goals. The Dutch winger, instead, could be a real crack. A fast and skilled player. Assists, dribbling, and goals are his specialties.
In just two transfer windows, Monchi has been able to rejuvenate the roster purchasing 7 players under the age of 24. Now it is the moment to trade a few ‘older’ actors out.
