The Italian coach spoke to the press ahead of the Serie A away match against Cagliari. Both teams need three points to reach their seasonal goals.
Roma travels to Cagliari after the Champions League hangover and an underserved elimination from the international stage. The Giallorossi must now focus on the Serie A to collect the necessary points to qualify for the 2018-19 UCL.
Cagliari, on the other side, needs three points to avoid a bloody relegation. Although the Sardi are not performing well in this period, the match against Roma will be played with a survival mood switched on.
“Cagliari has always been a difficult field for Roma over the years. It will be a tough match, from a physical and emotional point of view. They are in retreat for several days, we expect a real battle,” said Di Francesco. “We must be ready to face them with our weapons, putting great determination because there will be tough tackles tomorrow.”
“Next Champions League? We must collect six points but moreover three against Cagliari. Physically, we go there in a very delicate moment. A few players are physically borderline after the UCL efforts. I have to make the right choices for this match. That’s what I am worried about at this time,” concluded the Roma coach.
