The Turk spoke to ‘Spor Arena plus’ about his current moment in the Italian capital and his past choices.
Although he will miss the next Champions League clash against Barcelona, Cengiz Under is definitely the rising star of the Roma roster. He scored several goals in the last two months, one more than the Bosnian striker Edin Dzeko.
A muscular injury will keep him out of the match that will take place on Wednesday at Camp Nou stadium. Recently, he missed the Serie A away match against Bologna as well. As reported by Chiara Zucchelli on the Italian outlet ‘gazzatta.it’, the Turk is Roma’s greatest surprise of the 2017-18 campaign.
PAST, PRESENT, AND FUTURE – “I have received an offer from Manchester City but I didn’t agree with that. Roma’s project and the tactical approach of its head coach were important to me. When Salah was traded out, the team was more suited to my characteristics. Monchi says I can become important for the future of this team.”
DI FRANCESCO – “Di Francesco is an excellent coach, who gives so much importance to discipline and tactical work. He gives all players a chance. He trusts the players and keeps spinning them. He always wants the best in training and we have a good relationship.”
DZEKO AND TOTTI – “Edin [Dzeko] is a great scorer, we talk often before matches and he tells me what to do when the ball comes. As for Francesco [Totti], one day after I took shower right after a workout, Monchi told me that I had to meet a person. Totti was waiting for me. I was very excited. But I feel unlucky not to have played with him.”
MESSI – “I grew up watching his videos. I respect Ronaldo, but Messi is the best in the world. I really like David Silva too.”
BEST STARTING 11 – “Alisson, Dani Alves, Ramos, Thiago Silva, Marcelo, Modric, Silva, De Bruyne, Salah, Messi e Ronaldo.”
