Third meeting of the season between Roma and Torino. The giallorossi defeat Mazzarri’s men collecting three vital points.

Although Roma started on the right path with a lot of movement on the offensive third, the Lupi lost control of the game suffering Torino‘s ability to cover the spaces and quickly restart the action. In the first few minutes, Schick played not only as a striker but he wisely shifted on the sides exchanging his positions with the two wingers. By doing so, the Czech favorited the offensive push of the midfielder.

After Roma’s good start, the granata had a couple of good chances to score the opener. The first opportunity with a long-distance shot by Berenguer and the second thanks to a good cross delivered into the box, Belotti and De Silvestri missed the impact with the ball.
Torino dominated in midfield due to an evident numerical superiority. Iago Falque was the MVP of the first half. The former Roma man has been very dangerous on a couple of occasions. Alisson‘s reflex was absolutely spectacular in the 33rd minutes saving on Falque’s cross-shot. Acquah went close to the opener when Alisson precipitously passed a deadly ball to De Rossi. The Brazilian keeper, though, brilliantly saved. Schick completely out of the game while the Brazilian star kept Torino off the board during the first 45 minutes. Torino would have deserved the lead.

A lively start of the second half for Roma that had an early chance with Florenzi but his shot was deflected off the net. While the giallorossi have been unable to keep the lines tight Mazzarri‘s crew seemed to be compact and mentally in the game.

The match suddenly has changed when Manolas‘ free header went in the back of the net at 55. Florenzi delivered a beautiful cross in the box and the Greek defender stubbed Sirugu with no mercy, 1-0.

Nainggolan slightly shifted ahead as a trequartista destroyer and the Lupi have been more dangerous. A very disappointing El Shaarawy wasted a comfortable counterattack in the 60th minute. A great triangulation Kolarov-Nainggolan gave to Florenzi the chance to double the lead but his shot went over the crossbar at 68. A ball looped over the top after a cross bounced back left De Rossi in front of Sirigu. The Roma captain fired and scored the 2-0.

Di Francesco replaced Under with Gerson at 75 to give a bit more balance to his team and avoid Torino’s comeback.
Torino’s lines shifted higher leaving to Roma room for dangerous counterattacks. Pellegrini’s goal in the extra-time fattened the final result of the match, 3-0!

The Stadio Olimpico remains a hunted house for Torino who has not won a Serie A match in the eternal city since 1983. Roma scored in the 15 consecutive Serie A games against the granata.
