Although 1064 players changed team in the last transfer session, Monchi banked several millions for the sake of Roma.

Roma’s sporting director had a commitment with his boss and carefully respected the guidelines of the American businessman. Jim Pallotta needed to replenish the economic losses of his club in order to cope with the UEFA financial rules and Monchi traded out two defenders.

Emerson Palmieri joined Chelsea for a whopping fee (20.3m euro), while the captain of the Mexican national team, Hector Moreno, relocated to Spain (to Real Sociedad for 5.6m euro). Therefore, Roma banked approximately 26 million euro in the January transfer window.

The most expensive deal of this transfer session has been Pietro Pellegri to Monaco (21.3m euro). The Italian youngster is a great talent, a striker able to score two goals to the giallorossi in the 2016-17 Serie A vital match at the Stadio Olimpico.

The transfer window in Italy was open from January 3 to 31, 2018. In that period, 1064 players were traded.

As reported by ‘Transfermarkt.co.uk’, German clubs were the most active in the 2018 January transfer window (3286), followed by Italy (1064), England (789), Spain (731), and France (256).
