Roma comfortably defeated SPAL at the Olimpico stadium imposing its higher technical level and a man more on the field. Felipe’s foul on Dzeko changed the outcome of a match already tough for the team from Ferrara.

Once more, the VAR technology played an important role in Serie A. SPAL defender Felipe was sent off the field after that referee Abisso consulted the video assessing that Dzeko was going straight toward the goalkeeper to score a goal. An incontestable decision that made Roma’s win definitely easier.

Dzeko scored the opener after a great vertical ball from El Shaarawy picking the right angle on Gomis’ left side. Strootman, instead, threw in a rocket after a remarkable group effort.

In the second half, Di Francesco had the possibility to apply his turnover giving rest to a few players in need. Gerson, Schick, and Emerson Palmieri entered on the field replacing GonalonsUnder, and Kolarov. The Lupi kept the possession of the ball dominating the scene and scoring the third goal with a good header by Pellegrini. Although SPAL reduced the gap thanks to a penalty gently conceded by Manolas, the match went on as planned by the giallorossi.

Roma collected three important points at the Olimpico stadium. No more than a good training session for Roma today.

The Lupi gets closer to the top of the standings reducing the gap on a few teams. Napoli and Juventus will face each other shortly at the San Paolo stadium so the Lupi have the possibility to take some points on one or both teams.
