Roma loses two important points against Sassuolo at the Stadio Olimpico after having played a sloppy match. The Lupi are not in a good physical an tactical shape.
December is a bad month for Di Francesco‘s men. After having started the season on the right path, Roma is not performing well anymore demonstrating its offensive weaknesses. The Lupi scored only one goal once more but today it wasn’t enough to collect the three points.
Roma played its worst first half since the beginning of the season albeit the team scored the opener thanks to a precise cross-shot by Pellegrini. Schick was a shadow during the first 45 minutes and most of the other players didn’t perform much better than the Czech striker.
The second half had not been much different. The giallorossi are not able to double their lead keeping Sassuolo alive. Another defensive distraction stubbed Roma 10 minutes before the end of the dispute when Missiroli anticipated a distracted Juan Jesus scoring the equalizer with a peremptory header.
Di Francesco’s men reacted promptly but Florenzi‘s goal was denied by the referee who used the VAR. Cengiz Under irregularly stopped the defender allowing the Italian right-back to score. The VAR ruled in this match even a second time when Dzeko‘s goal was justly disallowed for an offside position.
Roma-Sassuolo ends 1-1 opening a tactical crisis case for the giallorossi.
