Roma, Champions League: Two Nightmares And a Few Great Chances

On Tuesday, Roma qualified for the next round of the Champions League. After Wednesday’s matches, the Lupi know which team can be faced.

The Champions League is definitely very exciting. Great players face each other in front of thousands of football lovers. This European competition is even more fascinating when the group stage is over.

All the clubs are waiting to know which team they will face in the Round of 16. Di Francesco and his men could have two nightmares in front of them but also a few great chances.

With the last home victory against Qarabag and the 1-1 between Chelsea and Atletico Madrid at Stamford Bridge, the giallorossi closed the GROUP C in the first position. Therefore, Nainggolan & Co. can only face one of the following five sides:

  • Bayern Munich;
  • Real Madrid;
  • Basel;
  • Sevilla FC;
  • Shakhtar Donetsk;
  • Porto.

Although the first two clubs listed could represent huge obstacles for Di Francesco’s men, the other possible pairings could be good.

Sevilla FC is Monchi‘s former club and it could be nice to face the Spanish side. The Lupi could have their revenge against Porto after their shocking defeat in the 2016-17 Champions League preliminary round. Shakhtar Donetsk could be a tough side but Roma would have its fair chances to qualify. Basel seems to be the weakest possible opponent albeit Champions League matches are never easy.
