Roma-Crotone 1-0: A phlegmatic performance by the Lupi

Roma collected three points not playing its best match. Crotone tried to find the equalizer without success.

A very tough first half for Roma that struggled to find the numerical superiority and the right ball through to serve Dzeko or the two offensive flank. The Lupi managed the pace of the game in the first 45 minutes and got the lead thanks to a penalty scored by Perotti but obtained by Kolarov with an offensive incursion.

Crotone tactically covered well its portion of the field complicating Roma’s development of the game. Di Francesco’s men didn’t find the right pass through to put the team of Nicola in danger. A very conservative first half by Karsdorp. The Dutchman played his first 45 minutes since last April and needs to work hard to find the right distances and position on the right side.

A good performance by Gerson, who demonstrated his mobility and tactical acumen. Gonalons didn’t start the game well but after the 30th minute he got a leading position in midfield directing Roma’s plays with wisely and efficiently.

The second half started and ended phlegmatically with the giallorossi unable to make a difference and properly attack the opponent defense line. Crotone must be poised for its tactical precautions. Nicola had thought about keeping the lines very tight until the last ten minutes to counterattack when it was possible and desperately look for the equalizer before the final whistle.

Di Francesco tried to change something during the second 45 minutes to boost Roma’s efficiency without obtaining the result hoped for. Dzeko struggled for the entire match caged between the lines. The Bosnian hit the crossbar with a rocket but his performance was not sufficient. The striker seemed to be tired and he should probably get rest in the next home match against Bologna.

Three important points for the giallorossi also because all the top teams won their respective games. Another win that gives confidence but albeit today the team didn’t perform as expected.
