Recently, Kevin Strootman was interviewed by Eurosport. The Dutch midfielder published on his official Facebook page the second part of that marvelous interview.
“I love Roma. It’s a special place. It’s a museum with a lot of history. Obviously, it’s not easy for us to freely walk through the streets of the center city but two months after we came here, I told my girlfriend that I would not want to return to Holland. I want to stay in Italy even when my career is over. It’s their lifestyle, how they live, how they are, and we cannot forget the climate and the food. All these things have influenced my decision.
There is traffic in Italy, but I think as a Dutch. You need two or three weeks to learn how to drive here. No one respects the rules and after a while you start doing it yourself, then you will be integrated.
The Italians are full of passion. It’s clear during the matches by looking at the fans on the stands. It’s a kind of South American passion.
Their passion consumes them throughout the week. If you win you will enjoy the best week, but it can be difficult if you lose.”
