Sevilla’s technical director unveils Monchi’s strategies

“Monchi is a phenomenal sporting director who prefers an ambitious and offensive coach”, stated Sevilla’s manager.

Sevilla’s technical director was recently interviewed by the Italian sports newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport. Miguel Angel Gomez unveiled Monchi’s strategies on the transfer market highlighting his great professionalism and competence.

At the beginning of each season, Monchi likes to make a list of 50 players for each role. In January it is reduced to 25, in April to 5-10 names. Then we choose.

Monchi’s world is this. He works with 15 scouts and he supervises them. The strategy was that at least 7 of us could see a player before purchasing him. There have been players that we have seen live 50 times before we decided to seal a deal.

Monchi is a pioneer. He loves big data but he firmly believes in his the instinct. He is humble and open minded. He works 14 hours a day but for 24 hours a day, he thinks about football. He loves to go to the gym, he likes to stay fit and do exercises.”
