Roma sporting director Monchi knows exactly what he wants. He also has a clear idea of who will be the next coach.
On Tuesday, Luciano Spalletti left the Giallorossi after a period of highs and lows. Now, a new chapter is beginning and the Spanier seems to be excited about the future and the potential of the club.
He recently released an interview to the club’s official TV channel.
“I was excited to work with Luciano. Sadly that’s not been possible. Perhaps our paths cross again in the future. I wish him luck, he deserves that.
Now we are at the beginning of a new chapter. The AS Roma brand needs to be associated with the Champions League. It’s fundamental that we have the chance to play in this competition because we can lay the foundations for the future. However, regardless of our league position, the project was already underway. We have an ambitious project in mind.
In reference to the new coach, I can say that we were waiting for Luciano’s decision. He was our priority but he decided to go. However, we were obviously working on alternatives. We are very clear on the candidate we want to lead the team next season and that’s what we’re working on.”
