Kessie to AC Milan. Probably it’s better that way

A few days ago I was thinking aloud about Franck Kessie’s possible deal. I was questioning myself and asking your point of view if Kessie was really ready to join AS Roma.

In my piece, I was stating, “Kessie is probably not ready at all. I’m not discussing the qualities of the midfielder, who seems to be a force of nature, but his mental predisposition to move to Rome.

I have to say that today’s news about the midfielder from the Ivory Coast gives me relief. According to SKY Sport, the satellite channel in which Gianluca Di Marzio works, AC Milan sealed Franck Kessie’s deal. The terms of the agreement should be the following:

  • €28 million to Atalanta (bonus included);
  • €2.5 million to Kessie (bonus included);
  • 5 years contract to the player.

Roma is, therefore, out of the competition. The Giallorossi were defeated not by the Rossoneri but by the same midfielder who preferred a club where he can consistently play to another team that plays in the Champions League and will be in the race for the title next season as well.

Very good choice for Franck Kessie. In the last period, the moves of the Ivorian midfielder were weird. As I said in a previous piece, “Kessie unveiled, more than once, his dream to join Manchester United and, ultimately, his willingness to jump on board of the AC Milan’s ship rather than the more ambitious AS Roma.

What was just my opinion is now confirmed by facts. Franck Kessie will join AC Milan and the Rossoneri closed a great deal for a phenomenal player. If something will suddenly change I will not change my mind. I believe that Roma needs motivated players on its roster. Those that for the first time in their career are making the leap of quality but are already thinking about their next step in life are not welcome.
