The president of the Italian football federation Carlo Tavecchio was interviewed by Radio Anch’io.
Tavecchio expressed his happiness for the introduction of the VAR even if he believes that a few roformes must be put in place as soon as possible.
“The reform of the statute is my primary objective. I am very happy that Nicchi has announced the VAR. This is a technology that I was asking to Blatter back in October 2014. Italy and Germany are the two nations that will have the privilege to use this innovative system. However, we have to trust our referees first. I am very positive about the VAR.
The Chinese investors? These industrial groups have money to invest and football has a great visibility. Thanks to the Brexit, Milan is going to have a very important role in the world.
Serie A with 18 teams? I’ve always thought about this possibility but there are interests that we have to take into account. However, there are many leagues with 20 teams in Europe.
A more exciting Serie A? In amateur championships there are playoffs and playouts. We need innovative ideas and strategies. We need to study new reforms, some corrective measures to avoid these situations.
What about the 2016-17 Serie A? This is a positive season. Juventus is the best team but Roma and Napoli reduced the gap.”
