The AS Roma legend Francesco Totti released an interview to the Spanish newspaper Marca in which he retraced the most important moments of his career.
“My debut with the first team was amazing, a dream came true. When Boskov told me to enter I couldn’t believe that he was talking with me.
In the past 24 years, football drastically changed. There is more intensity. The physical factor is predominant over the technical aspect. However, I believe that it was a natural progression of things that happened over the years.
To be the AS Roma captain is to embody the dream of many children. As a child I had a dream, to wear the only jersey I ever loved. And I never betrayed this idea. Rome is the most beautiful city in the world. You can always be surprised by an alley, a corner or a detail. As a Roman and as a Roma fan, it was an honor to finish my career here. Certainly, I could have won more titles elsewhere, but my greatest triumph is my loyalty to Rome.
I won the world cup but the title with AS Roma is a different thing. It is an indescribable feeling. But even the World Cup is one of the biggest victories in my career. I still have good friends in the team that won in Berlin.
It’s an honor that Nike dedicated this special project to me. (Nike Tiempo Totti X Roma).
